We didn't manage to make it to this year's Society for Information Display show, due to a significant list of very unimportant prior engagements, but fortunately we were spared the trouble by Engadget. At the show they found this snowboard of the future and it sounds good to us.
Video after the break...I imagine the first feature people would add would be a speed meter. First time I saw one of the satellite tracking devices that offer the same features, one of the lads I was with hired one out, tried to set a landspeed record on the first slope he got to and shattered his legs.

There is one thing they will have to fix before this becomes viable though. It's very noticeable that E Ink is affected by the cold and that Kindle screens move very slowly between pages on the coldest days. Amazon recommend an operating temperature for their Kindles of between 32°F to 95°F (0°C to 35°C) and a storage temperature of between 14°F to 113°F (-10°C to 45°C). Given that range these screens in their current format wouldn't last all that long or function all that well anywhere where you'd want to be snowboarding.
